WORKSHOP
Build Your First Quantum Circuit in Python — A Beginner's Workshop
Date: 07 October 2026 Time: 11:30 to 02:30 PM
Venue: Workshop Room 1, NIMHANS Convention Centre, Bangalore
FEES:
• Rs.299 for Leaders Pass holders
• Rs.2009 for Professionals Pass holders
• Rs.2249 for Knowledge Pass holders
• Rs.2699 for Community++ or Student Pass holders
• Rs.2999 for all others
(Limited seats available)
By the end of this workshop, participants will understand the core ideas of quantum computing — qubits, superposition, entanglement, and quantum gates — without any math, and will have written and run their own quantum circuits in Python using open source Qiskit. Starting from a “hello qubit” program, they’ll build up to creating an entangled Bell state and interpreting real measurement results. Attendees leave with working notebooks, a curated resource path to go deeper, and the confidence that quantum programming is something they can actually do today.

- This workshop is for anyone curious about quantum computing — no physics or quantum background needed. If you can write basic Python (variables, functions, running a script or notebook), you can follow along. Ideal for software developers, students, and tech enthusiasts attending their first quantum session. Setup instructions will be shared in advance, so just bring a laptop and your curiosity.
- Part 1: Quantum Foundations — No Math, Just Intuition (40 min)
- Why quantum computing matters — and what the hype gets wrong
- Classical bits vs qubits: light switches vs spinning coins
- Superposition and measurement — why you only get one answer
- Entanglement: the magic gloves that always agree
- Quantum gates: choreographing qubits into computation
- Part 2: Your First Quantum Circuits (50 min)
- Tour of the Qiskit workflow: build → simulate → measure
- "Hello Qubit" — your first circuit
- Flipping qubits with the X gate
- Creating superposition with the Hadamard gate
- Running simulations and reading measurement histograms
- Part 3: Entanglement in Code (50 min)
- Building a Bell state — entanglement with Hadamard + CNOT
- Guided exercise: extending to a 3-qubit GHZ state
- Seeing interference in action — a mini demo
- Part 4: Going Further (30 min)
- Running your circuit on a real quantum computer (IBM Quantum cloud)
- Advanced walkthrough (time permitting): Grover's search / quantum teleportation — provided as take-home notebooks
- Resources and roadmap: from today's workshop to intermediate All notebooks and slides shared in a public repo.
Benefits/Takeaways of this workshop for the attendees (What will attendees do after attending the workshop which they were not able to do before attending this)
- By the end of this workshop, attendees will:
- Understand the core concepts of quantum computing — qubits, superposition, entanglement, and gates — explained intuitively, without math
- Have written and run their own quantum circuits in Python using open source Qiskit
- Have built a real entangled Bell state and learned to interpret measurement results
- Know how to run circuits on an actual quantum computer via the IBM Quantum cloud — for free
- Take home all workshop notebooks and slides in a public repo, including advanced material (Grover's search, teleportation) to explore later
- Leave with a clear learning roadmap to grow from beginner to intermediate
- By the end of this workshop, attendees will:
- Basic Python knowledge — variables, functions, and running a script or Jupyter notebook
- A laptop with the workshop environment set up (simple setup instructions will be shared in advance; a browser-based fallback will also be available)
- No physics, mathematics, or quantum computing background required.
Note:
For hands-on workshop, attendees should bring their own laptop with tools installed
